WHO WE ARE: Forever Kings Inc. is an empowerment organization for Boys and Young Men of Color that focuses on disrupting the school to prison pipeline and creating a cradle to college, careers, and entrepreneurship. Our mission is to challenge the social norms, explicit biases, and stigmas associated with Boys and Young Men of Color. We fulfill our mission through the embedding of our 3 pillars “Kinghood, Brotherhood, and Servanthood” into our programs, workshops, retreats, and special events. This equips and empowers the young men we serve to Re-Define, Re-Shape, and Re-Imagine the outcomes for their lives. OUR GOAL: Our goal is to change the way Boys and Young Men of Color see and themselves, and the world around them. Through access to our unique programs, safe spaces and special events young men are empowered to find the King within themselves, create a culture of brotherhood, and become servant leaders. We believe this will result in them re-defining, re-shaping, and re-imaging, the outcomes for their lives. Community Advancement: Our work directly advances the community by creating a safe space for Boys and Young Men of Color that empowers them to breakout of the systemic cycles they may be caught in. In addition to this we teach our members to be servant leaders. During the peak of COVID-19 we started a “Dinners On Us” program that served 4,000 meals to vulnerable children who were experiencing food insecurity due to schools being closed and gave over 2,000 families groceries during our pop-up food pantry. Our members completed over 80 hours of community service. We are committed and dedicated to making our communities a better place to live, work, and play for all.

IT leaders were sent scrambling recently—in the wake of COVID-19—trying to support work-from-home (WFH) initiatives and a “stay at home” mandate from state and local officials. As a result, to retain their employees, some organizations allowed them to work from home, knowing full well they were not equipped with the tools to do so and, therefore, would not be working much. Their WFH initiatives essentially amounted to a glorified paid-leave policy then they moved to furloughs. Fortunately, for the past ten years, ATC has been increasingly leveraging cloud-based services, including UCaaS. Mostly to take advantage of our own mobility and the capability to work anywhere, anytime. But also, in the advent of unforeseen circumstances such as those we are experiencing today with COVID-19. Within 24 hours of “stay at home” order, ATC announced to clients and partners via email, “as a cloud-based, mobile-ready firm, we are, at present, 100% work-from-home and 100% operational.” We have helped clients – large and small – migrate to new solutions that would typically take 30 to 45 days and doing it in less than 24 hours. In less than 2 weeks, ATC assisted over 10,000 employees to begin working from home seamlessly. ATC is an independent IT consulting firm with a focus on digital transformation in four core areas: voice, network, cloud, and cybersecurity services. We help people day in and day out through technology to make their lives, businesses, and community better.

Sweets & Meats BBQ has been a staple in the Mt..Washington community for 7 years. We employ directly from our neighborhood and we work with SEM, our local food pantry, to provide fresh home cooked meals for the homeless and food insecure through partnerships with 2 local elementary schools and our library. We host BBQ give back days, to support our local schools & non-profits, by donating a percentage of our sales. We also support St. Joseph Home and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Moreover, we have invested in our own neighborhood, where I’ve been a resident 40 years, promoting commerce in our business district. As the owner of Sweets & Meats BBQ, I have a vested interest in the neighborhood where we live and serve. I sit on the board for our Local School Decision Making Committee and Health Source of Ohio, where I work as a liason, representing our neighborhood. I am also serving on the Advisory Board for the National Small Business Development Center, where I’m advocating for other small businesses, like mine, on an ongoing basis. Our business is part of the community.

Produce Perks Midwest is an Ohio nonprofit headquartered in Cincinnati serving Ohio’s 2+ million food insecure households in a manner that stimulates local economies and strengthens regional food systems. Our mission is to improve the health of underserved communities by increasing affordable access to healthy foods. At Produce Perks Midwest, we believe good, healthy food changes everything. It connects us like few things. It reflects our cultures and traditions. It heals, strengthens and sustains. For us, nothing is more important than our food system. We pioneer innovative and scalable solutions that address inequities within our food system. Our work leverages diverse partnerships that catalyze opportunities to create on-the-ground impact in the daily lives of those we serve – increasing affordable access to healthy foods, strengthening local economies and supporting local farmers and small-scale retailers. Our flagship program, Produce Perks, empowers SNAP and Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) recipients to purchase fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables from Ohio farmers, farmers markets and grocery-retailers across the state. Providing a $1-for-$1 match for shoppers using SNAP/P-EBT to buy healthy produce, the program increases affordable access to healthy foods for struggling Ohio households. In 2020, Produce Perks generated over $2.4 million in healthy food purchases from 969 farmers and Ohio-owned businesses. Utilization of Produce Perks grew by over 100% in 2020.

Reset Ministries is changing lives…one person at a time! Our residential education program offers hope, healing and restoration to those struggling with addiction, incarceration and a history of bad life-choices. Since our inception in 2010, we have served more than 182 residents with two houses in Newport, Kentucky. Alcohol and drug abuse is on the rise as a result of issues associated with COVID-19. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as of June 2020, 13% of Americans reported starting or increasing substance use as a way of coping with stress or emotions related to the pandemic and the uncertainty associated with it. Overdoses have also spiked since the onset of COVID-19. A reporting system called ODMAP shows that during the early months of the pandemic, there was an 18% increase nationwide in overdoses compared with those same months in 2019. The trend continued throughout 2020, according to the American Medical Association, which reported in December that more than 40 states have seen increases in opioid-related mortality along with ongoing concerns for those with substance use disorders. Addressing these issues in our community is more important than ever. Reset Ministries is dedicated to serving its community by teaching residents how to escape the chains of addiction and live a fulfilled life. Our program is based upon five key principles: Dignified housing ~ Residents reside in beautifully renovated homes from the 1800’s. We have a men’s house, women’s house and are working on a third house. Biblical truth ~ Biblical counselors spent more than 600 hours last year (and 55 so far this year) providing spiritual and emotional support, and giving our residents the tools and guidance needed to establish healthy relationships and boundaries. Growth opportunities ~ Residents attend life skills classes on everything from social skills to budgeting and finances. They also enjoy monthly hangout nights and are connected with community outreaches. Employment opportunities ~ We set our residents up for future success and teach them to become upstanding members of the community. They pay modest rent to live in our homes and are expected to gain employment within two weeks of moving into a Reset house. We partner with agencies and companies to help them find sustainable jobs. Hope for the future ~ Our residents are surrounded by mentors, coaches and counselors as they begin to put their lives back together–one piece at a time.
